Play Leading

Play leading at Saint Mary's offers children in years 5 and 6 the opportunity to develop their early leadership skills.

They receive coaching on different activities to play with children on the key stage 1 playground and also have 'mentor' coaching to help deal with minor issues.

Every lunch time, a team of children from years 5 and 6 put on their playleading bibs and invite children from reception to year 2 to play some fun activities and games.

Play leaders have a log in which they record the activities completed and a Lunch Break Supervisor then signs.

When playleaders have completed 10 activities, they will receive a 'Bronze Award' and can then move on to earning a Silver, Gold and Platinum award.

What's the time Mr Wolf?

When children leave Saint Mary's, they will have gained the following skills to take into secondary school:

 - leadership

 - organisation

 - cooperation

 - motivation

 - responsibility

It is fantastic for children in year 5 and 6, but children in reception and key stage 1 love it and really enjoy their lunchtime activities!
