This week, children will be focusing on fiction genres, especially fantasy, and will be answering the following objectives:

Can I define the key elements of the fantasy genres and settings?

Can I define key elements of fantasy characters?

Can I create heroic speech?

Can I examine and create plot lines suitable for fantasy genres?

Can I write a setting description for a fantasy setting?



 We are looking at calculation: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division including with decimals and fractions. 







Homework (given out on Friday 16th June)

Children have been provided with theme homework based on researching a county or city in the United Kingdom. A link to the homework can be found here.



Termly News:

Week Commencing 5th June 2017 (Science Week)

Maple Class enjoyed a fantastic science week exploring energy.  Throughout the week, the children did a range of different investigations, including understanding about different non-renewable energy sources.


PE days

Please can children have correct Pe kit in school forTuesday and Thursday. White t-shirt, blue or black shorts and appropriate footwear for both indoor and outdoor PE.  I am more than happy for children to wear jogging bottoms for outdoor PE when it is cold, but please can these be dark and plain.

Children will need to tie their hair back and ALL jewellery must be removed (earrings may be covered with tape)

This week (Jan 2017) the spelling rule for Mr Moon's and Mr Ridd's set is:

Words ending –able or –ible (-ibly/-ably)

For example:

possibly, incredibly, comfortable, capable, possible, terrible, horrible, workable

As a general rule, words that are complete words already add 'able': comfort --> comfortable

whereas words that are incomplete add 'ible' : poss ---> possible
