Organisation:

  2. Arguments on EACH SIDE of the debate

  3. Each argument supported by evidence, explanation or examples

  4. Paragraph breaks which help the reader clearly see both sides of the argument

  5. Final paragraph where a conclusion is reached

Language Features:

  1. Written in the present tense

  2. Arguments presented in the 3rd person using:   - generalised voice (some pleople claim...)                                                          - passive voice (It is argued that)

  3. Formal, impersonal language and vocabulary

  4. Links made using connectives (Therefore, consequently...On the other hand, However)

Conditional language (It may be... It could be that...)
